Jill was an NYC Teaching Fellow, and earned her Masters of Science in Teaching at Pace University. She is a NYS certified special education teacher with a focus on autism. She has experience working in both private (The Rebecca School) and public schools (District 75), and taught elementary 6:1:1 classes with the NYC DOE. Jill is trained in GRTL special needs yoga and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention.
Jill earned her BFA in Drama at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. She is a co-founder of the internationally acclaimed devised theatre company The TEAM. With The TEAM, Jill has taught devised theatre and collaboration workshops to students and artists of all ages. Jill piloted an East Coast workshop of Grrl Action, The Rude Mechanicals educational program, teaching autobiographical writing and performance to adolescent girls. She is a Teaching Artist with Stages on The Sound, teaching filmmaking, playwriting and Shakespeare in NYC schools. Jill also works with The Engaging Educator, teaching Improv, Storytelling and Presentation Skills for Professionals. Clients have included Google, Viacom, Etsy, Dev Bootcamp, W Magazine, and The Brooklyn Museum.
Jill believes in the fusion of individualized education and artistic practice. She brings music, dramatic play and dance into her work with young students with autism. These practices help students increase self expression, communication and social skills while also being a vehicle for academic and behavioral progress. In her work with neurotypical artists, Jill brings an awareness to all learning styles and methods of processing.
